Roland This is some excellent Post Black Metal that doesn't shy away from getting a bit experimental/proggy here and there. The brutal parts, the atmospheric bits ...everything ebbs and flows so naturally, it makes the whole record an absolute joy to listen to.
This band deserves a lot more recognition and I hope many more people will discover this musical gem. Favorite track: Atlas to Fall.

Lloyd James Harboured have found a pretty unique take on post-metal, where techy/proggy riffing meets with post-black/post-hardcore. The warm guitar tone & emotive melodies bring memorability to an expertly deployed post-metal ebb and flow. An outstanding debut and an easy highlight of 2023. Favorite track: Impermanent Cell.

The self-titled debut from Denver, CO based Harboured is the opening statement of a band that already sounds like they are in their prime. Manic breakbeats paired with progressive metal riffs and melody are the band’s bread and butter, but they are not afraid of slipping into a more experimental sound on these 6 tracks. Opener Anterior uses synths and chanted vocals to set the stage for the next 35 minutes of absolutely brutal music. Guitarists Michael Stancel (Allegaeon) and Nick Hennig (Vimana) use a dual guitar approach to create walls of sound and intricate harmonies, while drummer Cierra White (Oak, Ash & Thorn) plays some of the most technically challenging material in modern metal. Bassist Brandon Michael (Allegaeon) completes the sound with his signature low end shredding. The result is a confident album that sounds well beyond the first outing for a band. Out March 2023 on Lost Future Records.
